One of Windsor: The Untold Story of America's 1st Witch Hanging
Her imprint upon the historical record is slight but the shadow she leaves is long. Decades before Salem’s witch hysteria, Windsor’s Alse (or Alice) Young was the first person to be executed for witchcraft in the American colonies. How could this have come about? For her 2015 publication, now in its second printing, local author Beth Caruso combed land and vital records to build an evocative picture of Alse, the world she inhabited, and how she might have come to be accused of witchcraft.

Join Caruso at Windsor Historical Society on Thursday, October 27 at 7:00 p.m. for a book talk and signing to learn more about Alse and the ramifications of her death upon later witch trials throughout New England. Cost for the program is: $6 for adults, $5 for seniors and students, and $4 for Windsor Historical Society members.
