People seeking to be better informed about Climate Change and its effect on their lives and town are invited to attend the free Public Forum presented by the Windsor Conservation Commission and The Windsor Locks Conservation Commission on the topic “Climate Change and You – Its Effects on Health, Agriculture, and the Economy,” Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at Northwest Park, 145 Lang Rd, Windsor, CT, 6:30-8:30 pm. Presenters Kip Kolesinskas, Consulting Conservation Scientist and Dr. Mark Mitchell, M.D., MPH of the Commission on Environmental Health will be providing their expertise, insights, and data..
Whether you believe in Climate Change or not, many scientists are citing unprecedented weather extremes, accelerated incidents of flooding, rampant increases in forests fires, and growing drought conditions. According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) indicators, “Climate change could affect our society through impacts on a number of different social, cultural, and natural resources....and human health, infrastructure, and transportation systems, as well as energy, food, and water supplies.” The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report states, “Human influence on the climate system is clear and recent anthropocentric emissions of greenhouse gases are the highest in history. Recent climate changes have had/ widespread impacts on human and natural systems.”
The event is free, it's informative, and it affects you and your family here and now! Q&A and Discussion to follow presentation.
