from Breakfast and lunch to benefit Jonathan Elkins’ Eagle Scout Service Project, which will benefit the Poquonock Community Church. Enjoy a great meal and support a Boy Scout in earning the highest rank of Eagle! My name is Jonathan Elkins, a Windsor resident and Boy Scout with Troop 56, which is sponsored by Poquonock Community Church. I am in the process of doing my Eagle Scout Service Project, so I can earn Scouting’s highest rank, Eagle. There are many requirements necessary to earn the rank of Eagle, and one of them is raising the necessary funds to perform my service project. In order to perform the project, I need to raise money to cover the cost of supplies. My project will be performed at Poquonock Community Church, where I will lead a team of youth and adults in cleaning and repairing a drop ceiling grid, replacing all of the ceiling tiles in the common hallways and cleaning florescent light covers. I chose the church, as they are committed not only to their members, but the community as well. Not only are they a place of worship, but they also allow their building to be used for “MOPS” (Mothers of Preschoolers), where parents can meet and have a safe place for their children to gather, play, learn and grow. They also offer a “Common Kitchen” which provides bread, canned and dry goods to anybody who needs a little assistance. On Wednesday’s they offer a free dinner to whomever would like to participate. They are a great asset to our town. |
