Diverse Ability Career Fairs
A May 17 Diverse Ability career fair to match jobseekers with employers will also provide opportunities to learn what assistance Connecticut can offer when employers are seeking to build a more diverse workforce. The event – the third in the Connecticut Department of Labor’s Spring Career Fair series – will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Hilton Hartford Hotel.

Partners collaborating with the Labor Department to sponsor the event are the Department of Rehabilitation Services, Capital Workforce Partners, the Department of Developmental Services and the Connecticut Business Leadership Network.

“Employers want good employees and they want to boost their bottom line, and a diverse, job-ready workforce can help them reach both of these goals,” noted State Labor Commissioner Scott D. Jackson. He noted that companies from throughout the state will be seeking to fill positions in a variety of fields, while Professional Résumé Writers from the agency will offer résumé reviews to job seekers. Practice interviewing sessions will also be featured.

Representatives from the state’s local American Job Centers, Rehabilitation Services, Developmental Services and the Connecticut Business Leadership Network will be on hand throughout the fair to meet with both employers and job seekers to answer career-related questions or inquiries regarding accommodations and state resources.

The Hilton Hartford Hotel is located at 315 Trumbull Street with free parking for attendees available in the Morgan Street Garage, and accessible parking (permit required) in the Church Street Garage. American Sign Language interpreters will be available throughout the event.

Additional information about the Diverse Ability Career Fair, including the list of Career Fair exhibitors, directions, and employer registration form, can be found by visiting www.ctjobfairs.com,the Connecticut Department of Labor’s career and job fair site.
