Douglass Day is celebrated each year on the birthday Frederick Douglass chose for himself: February 14th. To honor his life’s work, participants gather to transcribe documents from a Black history collection to help make them more widely accessible to researchers. This year, we will be transcribing the Library of Congress’ African American Perspectives Collection. This collection includes materials written by Frederick Douglass, Ida B. Wells-Barnett, and Booker T. Washington. Windsor Historical Society and Windsor Senior Center will co-host a transcribe-a-thon for all ages at the Senior Center. Snacks and support provided. Participants must bring their own laptop or tablet. This event is drop in, drop out. Feel free to stay for as long or as short a time as you please. |
