Versatile Open Mic (Monthly)
Join Windsor’s Inaugural Poet Laureate Versatile Poetic for a monthly open mic night held on the 4th Thursday of every month from 6–8pm in the Windsor Art Center gallery. Poetry, singing, rapping, music, spoken word–everyone is welcome!

Come share your talent in a safe space, free to attend. Let’s share, let’s listen, let’s express, and let’s have fun!

MORE ABOUT THE POET LAUREATE

Brittana VersatilePoetiq Tatum was born at Hartford Hospital. She was raised for nine years in Simsbury, CT and ten years in Avon, CT. She has lived in Windsor, CT for the past 18 years. She played basketball throughout high school with aspirations of playing in college.

In the fall of 2005, Versatile attended the University of Hartford as a marketing major. She put away her basketball sneakers and picked up a pen to become a Poet. She graduated from UHART with a Business Administration degree in May of 2009 and has been performing Spoken Word for 16 years and teaching Spoken Word for 13 years. Her stage name, VesatilePoetiq, expresses her universal appeal and unique mix of Spoken Word and Rap. To her students, she is “Miss. Versatile.”

Versatile works for Charter Oak Cultural Center and Arts for Learning Connecticut, and throughout her career, she was the Spoken Word Teacher at The Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts and performed in front of 20,000 people at The Greater Hartford Jazz Festival in 2019 and 2021. She hosted the Trinity International Hip Hop Festival in 2019. She was the Keynote Speaker at the Connecticut Association of Schools High School Outstanding Arts Award Ceremony in April 2023 and Hosted the Hartford Creative Arts Ceremony for 4th-12th Grade in June of 2023 and 2024.

You may recognize Versatile from hosting Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday Celebrations and Juneteenth Open Mic events at Windsor Art Center for the past two years. We’re lucky to be adding these monthly open mic nights to our growing list of collaborations with Windsor’s Inaugural Poet Laureate!
