Navigating the Challenges of Elder Care Are you caring for a parent or elderly loved one? As we age, our physical, social, and mental needs all change, often creating challenges with Activities of Daily Living and complex medical and social issues. Finding holistic answers is often a challenge. In this five week course, Nurse Practitioner Alison Gorman shares her 30+ years of experience caring for individuals in the geriatric population and supporting their families. This course will provide an overview of the aging process; palliative care - what it is, what it is not, and when it’s appropriate; goals of care conversations - what to expect from your caregivers; advance care planning; how to make the most out of any doctor’s visit; and hospice care - myths and realities. Understanding these challenges, and how to navigate the healthcare system, can empower you to be a better advocate for your loved one. Feel free to attend one or all of the following sessions.
