WHS Pre-Holiday Dinner & Auction
Windsor Historical Society’s Pre-Holiday dinner and auction is the first event of the holiday season with terrific items to bid on, a lovely and delicious sit-down meal with a choice of beer, wine and non-alcoholic beverages, and many opportunities to catch up with old friends and meet new ones! This year’s affair will be held at The Lodge at 130 Deerfield Road in Windsor on Saturday, November 19 from 6 to 9 p.m. The auction is rich in experiences: an African safari, certificates for our area’s finest restaurants and hotels, cultural attractions, theater and sports events – perfect items for folks who don’t want more “stuff” in their homes. Forget about holiday baking when you can get ten dozen exquisitely-decorated Scandinavian Christmas cookies, including personalized gingerbread men, ladies, and angels. We’re also auctioning sixteen spots for a delicious hearth-cooked Twelfth-Night dinner at the Society’s prize-winning Strong-Howard House on January 7th. For those of you who do want more stuff, we have that too. Bid on mulch for your garden, exquisitely crafted shaker chairs, cozy quilts and throws, art, jewelry, and so much more. Our website www.windsorhistoricalsociety.org has the full listing. Pick up your tickets now ($40 in advance, $45 at the door) at the Society, Ashley’s, Jordan’s, or Windsor Federal’s central office) or at the door.

There’s always a chance for screaming bargains – that is part of the fun! But there’s also a chance to feel good by doing good: finding that memorable gift for a friend or loved one, sponsoring a Windsor family in need, or by contributing to a fund that lets us keep admission to Windsor Historical Society’s Windsor History galleries and Hands-On-History Learning Center free to all. Your attendance and bids support The Society’s school and public programs. Buy tickets at the Society, Ashleys, Jordan’s and Windsor Federal on Broad Street.
