On Sunday, June 14 from 2 PM – 3 PM, Curator Christina Vida will speak about Weddings and Worth: Dowry Items in New England History; the items that women brought with them as they started married life. Cost: FREE. As part of Connecticut Open House Day, we invite you to lend and to view memorable wedding gifts with us as part of a two-day exhibit: “Pretty, Practical, and Popular: A Pop-Up Presentation of Your best Wedding Presents” at Windsor Historical Society. What was the best wedding gift you gave or received and why? The most memorable? The funniest? Bring us your gifts and your stories and memories by June 13th at 10 a.m. (write up a quick label for your gifts on an 8.5 x 11 sheet which we’ll display in a plastic sleeve close by), and pick them up by 4 p.m. on Sunday the 14th. We can’t display your wedding gown or tux, but you are welcome to wear them to the event! Wedding cake and punch served. |
