| | | Come one, come all to a celebration of the apple harvest at Windsor Historical Society on Saturday November 5th! Did you know that there are over 7,500 different varieties of apple? And that apples are grown in every state? And that there is scientific evidence behind the old saying “An apple a day keeps the doctor away”? Discover more apple facts on November 5 from 10 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 4 p.m. Visit our hands-on Strong Howard House and savor the delicious smells of apple pies and apple butter cooking. Becky Hendricks, our experienced hearth cooker will be happy to share her recipes and her secrets with you.
In our Hands-On-History Learning Center, taste different varieties of apples, try your hand at apple block printing and prepare your own delicious fall treat with dough, apples, and spices. You’ll leave with your own tart, instructions for baking it at home, as well as an historic recipe for apple pie. Reserving your spot by Friday, November 4 helps us ensure that we have enough supplies, but we’ll be happy to see you even if you show up without a reservation! This program is supported by Windsor’s Stop and Shop on Kennedy Road. COST: $6 adults, $5 seniors and children, $4 WHS members.
