2023 Upcycled Pollinator Planter Challenge

Don’t miss out on viewing, voting and bidding on these unique, purposeful artful planters throughout Windsor Center!

The upcycled planters will be on display at sponsor business locations and on the Windsor Town Green. Support the plight of pollinators – especially monarch butterflies!

July 8 - 15, view in person and vote online for your favorite planter! Designers, artisans, and local gardening enthusiasts crafted pollinator- and butterfly-friendly planters from a variety of unusual items. The designer with the most votes will receive a prize!

You also have the unique opportunity to take one of these artistic, one-of-a-kind planters home by bidding for it in the online auction Starting bid $50. $5 increments. Planters must be picked up by July 16.

The planters are filled with pollinator-friendly plants & Butterfly Weed -Milkweed- the only host plant for the Monarch. If you see an eaten stalk in the planter, you’ll know that a Monarch has made a home! Pictures of planters are viewable on our website, and the planters are up for auction until July 15 at 8:00 pm. Make sure to put in your best bids now! (If you are not on Facebook, call 860-247-8982 to bid.)

The Upcycled Planter Challenge kicked off on Saturday, July 8th with our Windsor Monarch Festival Eco-Friendly Artisan Market on the town green and lots of activities around the center including an Electric Vehicle showcase, Children's Pollinator Parade, Rock Painting, Crafts and activities, a paint party by Irene’s Traveling Palette at Dewey's Barrels, and lots more!

Proceeds support FTDT programs, bring awareness to the plight of the Monarch butterfly, and maintain the two monarch garden habitats on the Riverwalk trail.
