Artist Susan Tait PocaroAbout the artist. Susan was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts. She started drawing once she could hold a crayon, and developing an interest in fashion illustration and portraiture in high school using colored pencil and chalk pastels. During this time Susan lived abroad in England for three years, returning to attend Chamberlayne Junior College in Boston to earn an Associates Degree in Illustration, and a Bachelor in Fine Arts in Illustration from the University of Lowell, Lowell, Massachusetts. With her extensive experience, Susan became an on-staff illustrator for an advertising agency in Andover, Massachusetts before moving to Connecticut. There, she worked for nearly 6 years in the advertising department in a major Connecticut department store. After that, she was employed as a full time illustrator in a Massachusetts publishing company until 2000. It was at this time, she decided to pursue her goal of illustration, portraitures, and still life's full time. One of her first projects was illustrating a series of children's books for the Huckleberry Press, while continuing to illustrate on a freelance basis for many other firms. Over the years, Susan has exhibited her work in numerous local and national art shows. Currently, she is a member of the local art community, and organizations. Susan is also a member of the Colored Pencil Society of America, and continues to exhibit on a regular basis. She lives happily in Connecticut with her husband and three boys. |
