On Thursday, December 16th at 11:30 am Connecticut will be celebrating the accomplishments of Martin McMahon at the Windsor Town Hall Portico at 275 Broad Street.
Speaker of the House Matthew Ritter, State Representative Jane Garibay, and Windsor Mayor Donald Trinks will be present to honor Martin McMahon, the first Connecticut resident to swim the English Channel, and 36 years later, the 252nd person in the world to complete the Triple Crown of open water swimming, a marathon swimming challenge consisting of three historically important swims: 1. The English Channel, 33 km between France and England 2. The Catalina Channel, 32.5 km between Catalina Island and the California mainland 3. Manhattan Island Marathon Swim, a 48.5 km circumnavigation of Manhattan Island, New York City.
Only 265 individuals have completed the challenge and the 1st for longest turnaround between completing the first and last leg of the Triple Crown.
