Come out for a free summer concert on the green Thursday evenings from 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm. Thursday, July 25th is RipChord, the Rock Band of the CT 102D Army National Guard Band!
RipChord is comprised entirely of citizen soldiers from the Connecticut 102d Army National Guard Band out of Rockville, CT. Their vocational backgrounds include professional musicians, students, teachers, law enforcement personnel, and business professionals. These soldiers train together one weekend per month and two weeks per year to prepare for variety concerts where they perform patriotic and hit songs from the 1970’s through today. The group typically performs at social events for soldiers, summer concerts for the public, and numerous music festivals. There is truly something for everyone who comes to see this group perform. RipChord has been performing under the leadership of Sgt. 1st Class David Finn since 2015, and the musical direction of Sgt. Steve FitzGerald since 2018. The primary mission of RipChord is to enhance community relations, entertain the general public and honor all soldiers and veterans who have served and are serving in our armed forces. Top off the month of July with a concert on the green on a special night: Saturday July 27th, at a special time: 6:00 pm, by the musicians of Tonebank! It'll be an extraordinary evening of passionate Tango music, cool jazz and moving Hollywood favorites .
Presented by Tonebank International Music Academy and Festival, the concert will feature the stunning roster of Tonebank’s world-class virtuoso performers, including the acclaimed Argentinian tango music legend, Juanjo Mosalini. Guiding listeners on this stirring musical tour will be Zsolt Bognar, international concert pianist and recording artist, frequent TED speaker and host of the documentary series, “Living the Classical Life.”
