| | | Do you have a family bible? Like many family bibles, does it contain family records, or possibly letters and photos? That information can be a goldmine to genealogical researchers! On January 20 and 22, the Windsor Historical Society and the Abigail Wolcott Ellsworth Chapter DAR are partnering at the Historical Society to help gather and preserve that information for use by the public.
After checking that your bible contains family records, sign-up here to reserve a time to bring in your bible and have the records photographed for inclusion in the DAR’s Genealogical Research System. This system, open to the public, contains a wide variety of genealogy data bases and records, as well as over 84,000 bible records! Your records will be photographed, transcribed, indexed and made available to the public.
Pages from ANY Bible in ANY language are eligible, as long as they contains family records. The data and individuals do NOT have to have to be related to the Revolutionary War. Churches and other organizations with bibles are encouraged to participate as well.
FREE but pre-registration encouraged. Register for a morning or afternoon slot on either Saturday, January 20 or Monday, January 22. |
