The interstate highway system of the 1950s aimed to make travel across a growing nation safer and easier. But it often also ended up segregating towns and disproportionately affecting populations of color. How did the construction of I-91 or I-291 through Windsor affect you, your neighbors, or your community? Were you or anyone you know forced to move? What has been the outcome of these projects for the town of Windsor? Join us for our next Exploring Windsor’s Black History Conversation focused on Highways that Connect or Divide, Wednesday, April 10, 5:30-7 PM at Windsor Historical Society.

The Society’s Exploring Black History Conversations combine historical background provided by local researchers with the first-hand experiences of program participants for a lively and engaging examination of topics of importance to the town’s Black residents both in the past and today.

Please note the new evening program format. Come for the food and stay for the conversation! Join Society staff and members of the Windsor community for in-person discussion, refreshments, and a light meal.
