Bandleader and guitarist Dave “El Guapo” Giardina has roots in the sixties folk-rock culture. He studied classical guitar with Sharon Isbin and Philip Defremery, Jazz with Sal Salvador and Bob Kobus and Flamenco with Mario Escudero and Paco Pena (Spain). He is also Artistic Director of the CT Classical Guitar Society and a member of the CT Commission on Culture and Tourism. Goza (“joy” in Spanish) performs exciting music and dance rhythms from Latin America, Brazil and Spain with guitar, violin, horns, Latin percussion and beautiful, romantic vocals. They are a popular New England troupe who feature rhythms from samba, rumba cha-cha, salsa, cumbia, flamenco, tango and bolero. They play songs by Tito Puente, Sonny Rollins, Carlos Santana, Buena Vista and Antonio Carlos Jobim, as well as versions of songs by the Beatles, Van Morrison and the Eagles. Rounding out the group Goza are Karina Hernandez (vocals/violin), Jeff Taylor (sax/flute), Brian Wallace (trumpet), Matt Dwonszyk (upright bass) and Asher Delerme (drums/percussion). Suggested donation is $15.00 at the door. For more information, call 860-688-2528 or visit www.windsorartcenter.org. |
